Avert Lay-offs with Incumbent Worker Training
An incumbent worker is an individual (or group of individuals) who is already employed by a company in a key sector - Agriculture, Healthcare, Information Techonologies, Manufacturing, Transportation/ Distribution/Logistics - and locally defined sectors that include Finance and Insurance, Hospitality, Retail, and Green Industries. Incumbent workers are individuals who are receiving upgraded skills training: 1) to increase his or her skills in an occupation in which the individual is already an employee; or 2) to prepare the worker for entry into a new occupation within the targeted workforce (i.e., the workforce of the participating employer or group of employers).
Our goal is to provide resources for employers to train current workers in hopes of increasing the productivity and growth of their company.
KCDEE has training dollars available - up to $15,000 per employer for costs associated with training expenses or related certifications.
Employers may choose the type of training and trainer that suits their needs as long as the training will avert layoffs, re-locations or closings. The training should promote skills upgrades in key sector occupations as listed above and represesnt a significant skills upgrade for employees.
